Sep 23, 2018
This morning, a bustling and sunny 58th Genoa International Boat Show welcomed the Italian President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, during an official visit to the Mediterranean’s leading showcase which this year counts 951 brands.
President Mattarella reached the International Boat Show on a Guardia di Finanza patrol boat, accompanied by the Mayor of Genoa Marco Bucci, President of the Region of Liguria Giovanni Toti and Prefect of Genoa Fiamma Spena. Welcoming the Head of State on the pier was the President of UCINA (Italy’s Marine Industry Association) Carla Demaria alongside the directors and vice presidents of the Association.
The Italian President met with a delegation of children from the Val Polcevera schools to the North and to the South of the Morandi bridge and with a group of students from the “Nautico San Giorgio” Institute in Genoa and Camogli accompanied by Ilaria Cavo, Liguria’s Regional Assessor for Sport and Youth and Cultural Policies. The children gave President Mattarella a “Genova nel cuore” t-shirt – all proceeds of which, following the initiative of the Liguria Region approved by Genoa’s local authorities, will be dedicated to the Morandi bridge emergency – signed by each of them, and a collection of pictures they had drawn.
The President of the Republic’s visit continued inside the pavilion dedicated to boating accessories and components where the Italian Head of State greeted the police forces taking part in the International Boat Show with their own stands and the exhibitors based in the Tech Trade area.
Leaving Pavilion B, the visit then winded its way through the sailing area to continue into the Sailing World sector, the Power Village and then the Yacht & Superyacht area. Here President Mattarella stopped to meet the staff behind the 58th Genoa International Boat Show.
